Central Iowa Water Works has announced the next phase in easing restrictions, allowing both residential and commercial lawn watering to resume in Urbandale and across the metro area. However, watering is still limited to a voluntary even/odd schedule, and no watering is allowed on Mondays.
Here’s how the schedule works:
- Even-numbered addresses (e.g., 6700 Douglas Ave.) may water on:
Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday - Odd-numbered addresses (e.g., 6701 Douglas Ave.) may water on:
Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday - No lawn watering is allowed on Mondays, regardless of address.
This phased approach helps manage regional water demand while nitrate levels in our source rivers remain elevated. The City of Urbandale encourages residents and businesses to use water wisely, follow the voluntary schedule, and consider postponing non-essential irrigation - especially during hot, dry spells where peak demand strains the system.
