  1. Baby Bounce

    October 21, 2021, 9:00 AM - 9:45 AM @ Urbandale Public Library at Meeting Room A/B

    Baby and caregiver will enjoy bouncing, singing, shaking, and playing together! Experience / practice counting, rhythm, body part identification, animal sounds, sensory stimulation, fine and gross motor skills, and more! We'll have 20-25 minutes of interactive programming, followed by an unstructured playtime where children and caregivers can play together and / or interact with peers. Target Age: 0-24 months, with adult. Our age recommendations tell you the developmental level we plan for, but every child is different. Feel free to try them out and choose the story time(s) that feel right. Everyone is welcome! 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Monday and Thursday of the month, 9:00 - 9:45 AM. 1st and 3rd Saturdays, 9:30 - 10:30 AM. (Registration is strongly advised as attendance will be capped at 40, with slots given first to those registered. Please choose one time per week.) Please note: With health and safety in mind, this program will take place in our large meeting rooms, where we will make efforts to enable social distancing. We will provide family-sized mats for each family, spaced six feet apart.

  2. Toddler Time

    October 21, 2021, 9:50 AM - 10:35 AM @ Urbandale Public Library at Meeting Room A/B

    This short-attention span story time is perfect for toddlers. We'll share shorter books, rhymes, and music with the understanding that sitting still is tricky sometimes. Caregivers should plan on attending and helping little ones to engage, feel comfortable, and enjoy early literacy! We'll have 20-25 minutes of interactive programming, followed by an unstructured playtime where children and caregivers can play together and / or interact with peers.Target Age: 2-3 years old, with adult. Our age recommendations tell you the developmental level we plan for, but every child is different.   4. 2021 Kids "All Iowa Reads" Author Visit: Remy Lai

Reading the All Iowa Reads book is encouraged but not required, and attendees will be able to submit questions to the author during the webinar via the chat function. 

  5. Tween Painting Party: Haunted House or Hogwarts

    October 21, 2021, 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM @ Urbandale Public Library at ICN Room

    Our library assistant Carisa, will guide you step-by-step on how to paint your own masterpiece of a Starry Night scene featuring Hogwarts or a haunted house. Come socialize, paint, and create! Don’t forget to bring a paint shirt or dress accordingly.  This program is open to teens and tweens ages 10-17 only. Registration required to secure your spot.  Choose the session that works best for you (both are the same painting)Ages 10-14 are encouraged to register for the 4:30 PM sessionAges 12-17 are encouraged to register for the 6:00 PM session 

  6. 3rd Thursday at Hoover's: Hoover’s Last Trip Home

Archival videos and audio clips will supplement the story.  The Urbandale Public Library is pleased to continue our partnership with the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library and Museum for the monthly 3rd Thursday at Hoover's live webinar series.
