This project will urbanize Douglas Avenue from 100th Street to North Walnut Creek by installing curb and gutter, storm sewer, and replacing left turn lanes. This project also includes pavement preservation, with patching in both directions and a mill and overlay for the westbound lanes. A 5' sidewalk will be installed on the south side of the road, and a 5' sidewalk and 10' separate bike lane on the north side of the road, in keeping with the Complete Streets Masterplan.

Douglas Avenue will have reduced lanes in stages. Please follow posted signs and flaggersfor routing throughconstruction.

Project Status Update, 06/11/2021:
The Douglas Urbanization project has been awarded to Reilly Construction Company. The contractor is filling in the roadside ditch on the north side. The outside lanes of Douglas Avenue in each direction remain closed. Message boards will be posted prior to changes in road closures. 92nd Drive will be closed June 14th through June 16th. The bike path on the north side of Douglas Avenue has been removed for a large portion of the corridor. The bike path near North Walnut Creek is closed to allow for replacement of the trail and adjacent retaining wall. It is anticipated this will re-open on June 14th, depending on weather.A portion of the trail will be temporarily reconstructed with gravel; take care when using the trail.
