Project Description:

This project will urbanize Douglas Avenue from 100th Street to North Walnut Creek by installing curb and gutter, storm sewer, and replacing left turn lanes. This project also includes pavement preservation, with patching in both directions and a mill and overlay for the westbound lanes. A 5' sidewalk will be installed on the south side of the road, and a 5' sidewalk and 10' separate bike lane on the north side of the road, in keeping with the Complete Streets Masterplan.

The Douglas Urbanization project has been awarded to Reilly Construction Company. 

The Douglas Plantings, Landscaping, and Beautification project has been award to Alpha Landscapes.

Access and Work Zones:

Douglas Avenue will have reduced lanes in stages. Please follow posted signs and flaggers for routing through construction.

Maps will be posted to this webpage with additional information. The schedule is subject to change based on weather, conditions in the field, and contractor coordination. Project Status Update, 10/07/2022:

The widening and trail construction on Douglas Avenue has been completed and all lanes are currently open.  Reilly Construction Company is working on restoration and a remaining pavement markings. The bike path on the north side of Douglas Avenue has been paved. Some pavement markings on asphalt have been installed; trail markings will be installed soon.

The Contractor for the plantings and beautification, Alpha Landscapes, has begun boring irrigation lines for median planting beds.  They will complete irrigation installation and some of the planting bed grading before winter, then complete the project in the spring.  Temporary lane closures may be set for workers' safety.

All intersections are open.
