Complete Streets Master Plan

Complete Streets Projects

The City has been implementing the Complete Streets Master Plan as new projects are constructed through our Capital Improvements Plan (available here).  A few of our previous projects include:

  • Waterford Road from 142nd Street to 156th Street - a 10' wide HMA separated bike lane was constructed next to the 5' PCC sidewalk on the north side of the roadway.  The sidewalks and bike lanes along Waterford Road connect to the Coyote Ridge Trail across from 155th Street, and to the Waterford Park Trail on the west side of the Walnut Creek Bridge west of 156th Street.
  • Douglas Avenue from 100th Street to North Walnut Creek - a 10' wide HMA separated bike lane was constructed next to the 5' PCC sidewalk on the north side of the roadway.  The sidewalks and bike lanes along Douglas Avenue connect to the Walker Johnston Park Trail and Sunflower Park Trail at the North Walnut Creek Culvert.
  • 170th Street from Meredith Drive to Waterford Road - a 10' wide HMA separated bike lane was constructed next to the 5' PCC sidewalk on the west side of the roadway.  The sidewalks and bike lanes along Waterford Road connect to the existing 10' PCC multi-use trails on Meredith Drive and Waterford Road east of 156th Street, and provide direct access to Radiant Elementary at Plum Drive.
  • COMING UP IN 2024:  Douglas Avenue from North Walnut Creek to Elm Drive - a 10' wide HMA separated bike lane next to the 5' PCC sidewalk will be extended from North Walnut Creek to Justin Martin Drive on the north side of the roadway, and then continue on the south side of Douglas Avenue east to 79th Street.  Due to space constraints, an 8' PCC multi-use trail will be extended from 79th Street on Elm Drive on the south side of Douglas Avenue.  This will provide trail connections to Walker Johnston Park Trail and Sunflower Park Trail at the North Walnut Creek Culvert and to the North Karen Acres Park Trail.
