Urban Loop Investment Guide

Locating your business in the Urban Loop:

If you're interested in locating your business in the Urban Loop the best place to start is by browsing through the Investment and Development Guide (PDF). The City of Urbandale has created this flip book so you can quickly and easily identify land that is ready for development, see other business in the area, and identify roads and infrastructure near your desired location.

What exactly is the Urban Loop?

The Urban Loop area is anchored by the ninety-degree bend in Interstates 35/80 in Urbandale, Iowa. The land around the interstate is prime for development and supported by highly-accessible traffic routes. With a lot of planning and a little bit of geographic luck, these traffic routes and interstate access have made Urbandale the center of business opportunity in the Greater Des Moines metropolitan area. Development areas in the Urban Loop offer space for retail, office, flex, warehouse, and light industrial. There are acres of land ready and waiting for a groundbreaking ceremony to inaugurate the next new business in this strategic location.

Recently, there have been several upgrades to Interstate 35/80 to create greater access for businesses looking to locate in Urbandale. Several new exits have been opened and roadways improved to gain access to a wide variety of sites in the Urban Loop. An interchange at 100th Street was completed in 2018, and an interchange at Meredith Drive and the Iowa Highway 141 flyover ramp were completed in 2020.
