The Scott Smith Group and the Des Moines Big Band are the headliners for the Urbandale Public Library’s latest event to raise money for arts programming.
The musicians will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday, November 17, at the Urbandale High School Performing Arts Center, 7111 Aurora Avenue. Tickets are $35 each and may be purchased online at www.urbandalelibrary.org/music, at the library, or at the door. Tickets purchased online will be mailed.
Scott Smith of Des Moines, a pianist and vocalist, has performed nationally for 50 years. Other members of the group are saxophonist Julius Brooks, guitarist Dartanyan Brown, and drummer Jimmy Eklof. The Des Moines Big Band, established in 1959, is one of America’s longest running jazz orchestras. The concert will also include performances by Des Moines-area entertainers.
The Urbandale Public Library is committed to raising the public’s awareness of and appreciation for art through a variety of media and venues.
