Sergeant Matt Gausman has been employed with the Urbandale Police Department since 1991. He was promoted 2011 and worked in the Patrol Division until August 2014, when he was assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division.
Sgt. Gausman has served the department as a Patrolman, Criminal Investigator, Traffic Accident Investigator, and Field Training Officer. He has several years of experience as a S.W.A.T team member/leader, Firearms Instructor, Defensive Tactics Instructor and several other instructor positions within the department. He served as the department’s K9 Officer before being promoted.
Sgt. Gausman formerly supervised the department’s Field Training Officer Program (FTO), Reserve Officer Program, the K-9 Unit, and he currently commands the department’s Honor Guard Unit.
Sergeant Gausman attended college in Illinois at the College of DuPage.
Sergeant Dan Stein
has been employed with the Urbandale Police Department since 2000. He started his law enforcement career in January 1988 and served twelve (12) years with the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office, Kearney, NE.
Sgt. Stein served in the Patrol Division before being transferred to the Criminal Investigation Division for 8 years. As a Detective, he served as a School Resource Officer, Arson Investigator, and Crimes Against Person Detective.
In May 2010 Sgt. Stein was promoted to Sergeant and reassigned to the Patrol Division. In February 2013 he was transferred to the Administrative Services Division Sergeant. Sgt. Stein served four years in the Administrative Services Division and is currently assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division.
Sgt. Stein is a former Team Leader for the Hostage/Crisis Negotiators for the Suburban Emergency Response Team (SERT). He is a graduate of the University of Nebraska at Kearney with a BS Degree in Criminal Justice.
